Bob Park

I have been making pots since 1968, first in Inverness, where I started Culloden Pottery, moving to Greystoke Gill, Cumbria in 1997 and now working from a workshop at my house in Greystoke. I studied ceramics at Harrogate and Bath Colleges of Art and since leaving have made my living as a potter, producing a wide range of individual pottery. My work is high-fired stoneware using several glazes, primarily Chun, intermingled on each piece to produce rich, colourful surface decorations. Fired to a temperature of 1280 deg. C in a reduction atmosphere. I produce a range of mugs, bowls, vases and dishes – the decoration is inspired by the local landscape. Each piece is unique as the glazes flow in different ways. I am also now making more sculptural slabbed and extruded pieces for the garden, drawing on natural forms and plants for my inspiration.

I am a member of the Northern Potters Association, Eden Valley Artistic Network and Cumbria Sculptors.

Where to buy my work

My work is sold through Thornthwaite Galleries near Keswick, Percy House Gallery in Cockermouth, Farfield Mill in Sedbergh, and Beck Steps Gallery in Grasmere.
